To me, gingham always screams summer. There’s something about the checkered pattern that instantly reminds us of sunshine, flip flops, and lemonade. Perhaps it is because the pattern shares its likeness to picnic tablecloths, on which we can enjoy those great summertime snacks like hot dogs and barbecue.
And yet, I’ve decided to rock gingham on this blistery LA winter day. In an effort to wear pieces that get much traction in summer, but rarely see the light of day in winter, I decided to bust out this summery piece and pair it with a forest green cable knit sweater and knee high socks. Hopefully, these additions will shift onlookers’ minds from cheeseburgers and al fresco to hot cocoa and Charlie Brown Christmas musical jams.
As of right now, I’m off to pick up my dad from the airport. He’s visiting for work, but I’m always excited when he returns to Los Angeles because not only does it mean spending precious time with my dad, but also hotel breakfasts and a reason to go out to eat and share with him my favorite LA haunts. Tonight’s dinner is up in the air as to locale, but I’m currently craving Italian and some serious spaghetti.
