Okay, okay. Enough is enough. I’m going to be back at this blog, or at least I’m going to try! Things have been beyond crazy these days, especially with the store going 100%, full-speed ahead! And I couldn’t be more excited! Gingerly Witty will be opening in Echo Park (right next to the famed Blue Bottle Coffee) in November 2016. And man oh man, that’s really really close! Gah! There’s just so much to do. I’m meeting with my Home Polish designer (whose name also is Erin. Kismet much? I hope so!) on Tuesday at the store space, where we will be going over everything, from fixtures and equipment, furniture, design layout, etc. In the meantime, I’m going to be doing all the nitty-gritty, not so exciting things like acquiring business insurance, learning Quickbooks, and reading a book titled “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Starting & Running a Retail Store.” Talk about thrilling, am I right?!
As for this ol’ blog, it’ll be making a transition from a personal blog to a store journal. It will be here that I’ll keep you up to date on the store’s opening progress, from designing the space, newly acquired inventory, and sneak peeks into the overall process of what goes into opening and running a retail store. From there, once the store is open, I hope to use this little internet space to detail behind the scenes of the store as well as features on my favorite labels carried, local and non-local artists/makers, and fresh inventory. In addition, I hope to continue to use this blog as a personal outlet, continuing to showcase personal style, home decor, and everything and anything that I find inspiring. I’m not sure. What do you think? What would you like to see?
ANYWAY, that’s it for now. Here’s some outfit photos I took the other day with some inventory that will be in the store (don’t worry, I actually bought an extra piece for me!). I love this orange corduroy pinafore by Mod Dolly. It features snaps down the center and is anchored by two pockets in the front, perfectly sized for holding your phone! I paired it with an old Madewell map blouse and a vintage brass necklace I picked up at the Long Beach Flea Market a few weeks ago. Whether it’s a romp downtown or just another day at the office, the classic aesthetic of this piece keeps things flirty, functional, and most importantly, fun.
